Sweet rice
made by the rest
was good enough to eat,
but the one made by my mother?
Finest.

Finest
taste and texture.
White rice, green cardamom
cooked in milk, lemon juice syrup.
And nuts.

And nuts -
cashews, almonds -
with coconut slices
fried light in clarified butter,
that hiss.

That hiss
heard, as butter
would drown in the tangy
rice, of pleasing yellow color.
A sight!

A sight
that’s divine.
