The Elderly Couple
A beautiful, elderly couple, who
Back when they were young,
Cared for and loved and,
Did whatever they could,
Earning for their children,
Fulfilling all their needs,
Generous and gracious,
Happy despite penury,
Inspiring their children to be
Joyous, humble, and cheerful,
Keen on giving them a good life,
Loving and hardworking, with
Mirth and lots of hope,
Now neglected and numb, this
Old couple had nobody to care for, or
Provide them with some food,
Quiet and poverty-stricken,
Rattled by the indifference of their children,
Skeptical and stressed,
The woman was depressed,
Until she died one evening,
Victimized and lonely, the man
Worried now only about his next meal,
Xeric, starved and dehydrated,
Yearning for love and care,
Zealous to join his woman in the heavens.
